Meet the Columbia staff
City Year鈥檚 staff is deeply committed to the 色界吧 we serve and to helping our AmeriCorps members grow as leaders.
Trey Glenham is no stranger to the non-profit world. It all started while he was a student at the University of North Carolina Wilmington where he received his bachelor's degree in Parks & Recreation. During college, Trey volunteered for the Sports Club Program of the Boy Scouts of America ... a basketball/Scouting program for inner-city youth which led to a full-time position after graduation. In 3 years as the director, he took the program from 12 kids to 277! After serving as Sports Club Director, he served in several other executive roles with the BSA before serving as Chief Operating Officer for Southeastern North Carolina his final 7 years.
In 2020, he was offered a position outside of the Scouting profession, in Columbia, South Carolina. He and his family felt like God was calling them to move, so the lifetime North Carolinians headed south. After two years in an outside sales role, Trey felt the calling to get back into non-profit work. Fortunately, he was able to find an organization that aligned with his morals and values. In May of 2022, he became the Development Director for City Year Columbia. Though raising money is never easy, he feels extremely passionate about the work City Year is doing in Columbia and the impact it is having on youth that will ripple for generations to come. He truly believes Columbia is a better city because of City Year!
In addition to his passions of sports, working out, and all things Tar Heels, Trey is rooted in his relationship with God and love for his family. He and his wife, Emily, met at UNCW and married in 2010. Emily is a stay-at-home mom and part-time copy editor for a publishing company. She serves on the SIC board of their daughter's school, and enjoys volunteering, learning about, and advocating in their community. Trey and Emily have one daughter, Makenna who is 10 (and a half). Makenna loves gymnastics, ballet, volleyball, tennis, swimming, dolls, dancing, dressing up, music, and so much more! The Glenham family's favorite activity at home is family game night. One of their favorite Columbia activities is attending Fireflies baseball games.
Latoya Heath-Killingsworth comes with an extensive background in youth development, with over 16 years of experience in the non-profit sector. Latoya always knew she wanted to impact the lives of youth and in 2006 embarked on a journey as a Program Aide with an organization known as Boys & Girls Club of America/Midlands. Her passion and dedication were on display as she climbed the ranks from Program Aid, Program Director, Campus Director to eventually joining the Executive team as an Area Director, overseeing twelve sites; two of which were accredited.
After 10 years of trailblazing the non-profit world, Latoya decided that it was time to transition into entrepreneurship. With her mission continuing to align with the passion brewing inside, she transitioned into the childcare business. Owning a license childcare facility that services up to 104 children within two districts, in an under resourced area, her dreams were coming true. Being a devoted wife and mother of four entrepreneurship gave Latoya the time to focus on her family while pursuing her dreams of impact amongst underprivileged youth.
After taking the time to reset it was time to get back in the field so Latoya decided to find an organization where purpose was the driving force and joining City Year in the spring of 2022 as the Special Projects Manager was just the start. She felt confident that just as she鈥檚 done in the past if she could work alongside an organization that aligned with her values, she would be able to impact youth that need us most. Latoya currently continues to advocate for youth and is committed to a cause greater than self through City Year!
